"BAITS"

Live bluegills fished on the bottom, or beneath a slip bobber rig.
Live suckers fished the same way as the bluegills.
Live goldfish fished the same way as the bluegills.
Live crayfish (large)
Live baby bullheads fished the same way as the bluegill.
Live leeches during the spring season I have had repeated success using a live sucker with a live leech tipping the hook.
The location of the shovelheads is not as easy. I try to find a shelf of shallow water with deep water surrounding it. I found that the shovelheads would stay close to deep water cover during the day, and cruise the shallow water at night looking for prey.
Shovelheads due not school by nature. They are solitary fish, so don't waste too much time trying to catch groups of shovelheads from the same spot!

I found that,Worms,Leechs,Chicken liver and Shimp work the best on other catfish..
Lot of fisherman likes home made baits.
I know some work,some don't.I have Catfished for years,I still like my live bait.
